Dimitris Goulimaris is a Professor at the School of Physical Education and Sports Science (S.E.F.A.A.) of the Democritus University of Thrace (D.P.Th). Director of the Postgraduate Program "Sports Tourism, Events Organization, Dance" of S.E.F.A.A. - D.P.Th. and responsible for the postgraduate specialization "Studies in Dance". He is Coordinator and Collaborating Teaching Staff at the Hellenic Open University (H.O.U) in the Thematic Unit "Arts II: Overview of Greek Music and Dance". He was assistant to the Director of the undergraduate program "Hellenic Culture" of the H.O.U. Editor-in-Chef of the electronic scientific journal "Science of Dance". President of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Congress of Sports Tourism, Dance and Recreation in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Ηis studies include a Bachelor degree from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of D.P.Th. (1990), Master Degrees in Leisure Education with specialization in Dance from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (1993), Master Degrees in “Adult Education” from the H.O.U. (2007) Ph.D. from D.P.Th. (1998), Postgraduate training in “Open and Distance Education” from E.A.P. (2002), Adequacy of the Laban kinesiology system by Dance Notation Bureau Inc. (1998).
Since his childhood he has been a member of cultural associations active in the field of Greek tradition and dance. He has taught Greek dance in Greece and abroad. He is a member of editorial and scientific committees in journals and conferences as well as a supervising professor of master's and doctoral theses on Greek dance. He has participated in research programs as a scientific manager and as a member of research groups. His research interests and published work are in dance.
